(CBS 5) SAN FRANCISCO On Wednesday, California Secretary of State candidates Debra Bowen (Democrat) and incumbent Bruce McPherson (Republican) debated before the San Francisco Chronicle's Editorial board at the CBS 5 studios in San Francisco.

The meeting is the latest in a series of webcasted forums here on CBS5.com that the Chronicle's editorial board has held with various candidates for state office.

It should be noted that California gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides appeared by himself in a question-and-answer session after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declined the invitation by the Chronicle to debate his challenger.

The Chronicle Editorial Board has also set Monday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. for a debate with the lieutenant governor candidates, Democrat John Garamendi and Republican Tom McClintock.
